How does culture influence our way thinking and our behaviour? And which impact does it have on our personal life and daily work? Diversity has grown to be recognized as an asset in the 21st century and intercultural competence is considered to be a key competence across industries. But what does this look like in pratice? What happens when we experience different ways of thinking and doing ? What does that look like and how can we manage it?
For me, intercultural training means to start with ourselves by reflecting on our own set of values, behaviour and way of thining. This reflection then allows us to understand why and how we perceived and react to people who think or act differently from what we know. We are then able to take the next step of developing and applying strategies of how to manage these differences and benefit from them.
